Do you have rental insurance? All Matchbox leases require tenants to have rental insurance. rates Allstate, Liberty Mutual, State Farm and Farmers Insurance as the best renters insur-ance companies. Why get rental insurance you ask? A landlord's insurance policy covers the building and protects the landlord against lawsuits arising out of accidents on the property. However, landlord insurance does NOT cover the personal possessions of the tenant. This is a piece of information that seems to come as a shock to many tenants after disaster strikes and why we require it in our lease. #MatchboxCares

In properties with trash and/or recycling chutes, cardboard boxes MUST be broken down to fit down the chutes. This means cut or tear them into smaller pieces. If you bring boxes into the property, you cannot leave them in the trash room. This can cause fire hazards or allow unwanted critters to enter the property.

Mildew is a common appearance in bathrooms, basements, and places of high moisture or humidity exposure and low air flow. A common misconception is that bleach will resolve the issue, but it actually provides conditions for mildew to grow back. If you experience mildew issues, and it is NOT due to a water leak or something maintenance needs to address, please use a sponge to apply a mixture con-sisting of half white vinegar and half peroxide, which has natural anti-fungal properties. If wall appears stained after drying, and still feels spongy, put in a service request for us to investigate.
Please make sure that your bathroom exhaust fan is turned on during and after you take a show-er/bath. This will allow the moisture/humidity to be evacuated and reduce the chances of mildew forming. If your bathroom does not have an exhaust fan, crack the window to bring in fresh air.
